Vibrant, fun-loving, driven and tasteful, words that describe my friend and this month’s BagLady of Style, Helena Brunetti Domingues. A lady, whose vigor for life has been an ever-present reminder of the joy that comes from living life in the moment.
Helena, just like me has spent this year, 2020 in Shanghai- a land that’s not her own, but a city that she considers home. She has held on to hope and positivity this year and despite all of the chaos and uncertainty around us, has thrived through challenges, ultimately experiencing personal growth as well as growth in her career. So, here she is to spread love and good vibes from her home in Shanghai...

As a child growing up in Trinidad, I'd always get excited whenever we went to a beach that had a small cove or that required a small hike and adventure to get there.
My sisters, friends, and I were always in desperate search of adventure by the water, and my time in the Algarve region of Portugal reminded me of that never-ending and somewhat unfulfilled quest during my childhood. Filled with coves, caves, hikes, and surprises around every corner, I felt a great sense of accomplishment for my younger self as I explored the South of Portugal. HELLO, from the settled side!
You know, the life I said I’d try out this year? Thus far, settled life has included the usual, discovering more about myself, acing adulting, and enjoying life even more. I have also been thinking less about life after “Hai” and focusing more on spending quality time in this vibrant city - even taking fewer and shorter trips out of Shanghai.
“Go with the flow, but in style.” It’s my motto, in life and in travel, and creating a brand like BagLady Basics has made this seamlessly possible. It’s also the mentality I had when my friend Ayesha invited me to meet up with her in Prague. She’d extended the invitation at the end of summer, as I was still in Berlin (on my “Little Shepherd Girl” shit), and I figured, why not. I’d been keen on visiting this superbly beautiful city for some time, and it was only a cheap bus ride away! “What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?”
It’s a quote that most of us know, and a question that has been running circles around my mind for the past few weeks, and my most recent trip to Hong Kong made it ever so present and relevant. Hong Kong holds a special place in my heart, as it’s the place where my brand, BagLady Basics made its initial debut- it’s the city of “firsts” for BagLady Basics! “Oh my God, I love your hair! It’s so cool, can I touch it?”
How many of you natural haired sistahs have gotten these comments while traveling? Or maybe I should ask if you’ve lost count of how many times you’ve heard this? And I’m guessing that by now, like me, you’re probably used to it, and know that it comes with the territory of world travel! That's the question I've been asking myself recently!
First of all, I have a confession; I don’t currently own a selfie-stick as I keep breaking them, but for the most part, I’m a “solo travel girl”, and being solo goes far beyond travel. I generally do a lot by myself as I just enjoy my own company. However, over the past few years (with all this growth and all), I have been putting in effort into being more social and engaging in more group activities. Surprisingly being “Social Shanya” is also fun. Name: Tatiana Gomez
Current City: Shanghai Occupation: Senior Designer for Corporate Interior Offices How would you describe your style? Classy / Boho If you had to wear one outfit everyday, what would it be? A black short dress, turtleneck, sleeveless, a lined. The last month of summer is here so most, if not all of us, are trying to get that last bit of beach-chilling, poolside-chilling or island-chilling in. But it’s summer so even the last few weeks MUST still be done with style. What to wear, what to wear! Have no fear, BagLady Basics Off-the-Shoulder Shirt Dress is here! Yes I really just did the superhero bit. Like all our other dresses, this one is comfortable and versatile, and best of all, it’s a shirt! Well a shirt-dress. It’s light and breezy which makes it perfect for laying out at the beach or pool, and when you’re ready to hit the streets simply button up. Pair it with some casual sandals or some good ole’ flip flops, either works fine. Oh and don’t forget your sunglasses and sunblock or suntan lotion, it’s still summer after all. Here’s an extra dose of outfit inspo for the BagLady Basics Off-the-Shoulder Shirt Dress. Fall will be soon upon us, so throw on a pair of comfy, cool kicks and a lightweight jacket to transition easily into the next season. Your not-so-undercover fashion lover,
